Governor Akeredolu, Wife Were Of Help During My Impeachment Onslaught – Madumere


One of the few Deputy Governors who survived Impeachment onslaught in Nigeria is Imo former Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere.

It is usually very dicey for any Deputy Governor to survive impeachment because of the enormous powers the Governors wield coupled with the fact that the constitution so much relegated the position of a Deputy Governor.

Yesterday, Madumere revealed some of those who played one role or the other during his impeachment saga.

Former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere among others expressed gratitude to the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu and his wife, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu.

He described the Governor of Ondo State and wife as humane and haters of injustice.

The former Deputy Governor made the remark at the conferment of the highest Chieftaincy title for Owerri Daughter, “ADA OWERE” Ceremony in Owerri, the capital city of Imo State.

Madumere who was the Chairman of the Occasion reeled out reasons why he cannot afford to forget Governor Akeredolu and wife.

He told the audience how the newly crowned ‘Ada Owerri I”, Mrs. Akeredolu with her husband, Governor Akeredolu encouraged him by their pieces of advise and joined others to ensure he was not removed from office unjustly.

His statement: “Many of you may not know that I am much closer to Akeredolu family than most of you could imagine. His Excellency, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), his Wife and the family generally hate injustice.

During the period of my ordeal, when I was unjustly and forcefully being dragged to a “political skull” this First Lady with a beautiful heart stood like a rock of Gibraltar. She said no to injustice.

She supported me and gave me soothing words of exhortation. She joined many others to ensure that I was not put to shame.

“Ada Owerri also created room for me to see Governor Akeredolu who left his meeting to see me. He is a humble man, humane but he hates injustice.

“Speaking with me, he told me it was not the end of life.”

“Madumere also used the opportunity to thank the people of Owerri zone and Imo State in general for speaking up when it mattered most.

“He assure them he is still very much around and will always work to contribute to the development of the state at every opportunit
