NAF Denies Killing Yobe Villagers
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dismissed reports its fighter jets erroneously killed residents in a community in Yobe State.
A security group, Ions Intelligence, had through its social media page, alleged that troops on a mission against Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) and Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) dropped bombs in error at Buhari Village, Yunusari Local Government Area (LGA) which killed many people.
Reacting to the report Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI) said it was completely false.
He explained that the last NAF operation in Yobe State was on September and not at Yunusari LGA, adding that neither bombs nor missiles were used.
He said: “This tweet is false in its entirety. The NAF last conducted a mission into Yobe State (Not Yunusari LGA) on 5 September 2021 and it was an armed reconnaissance. No bomb or missile was even expended.”
