Imo Ex – Deputy Governor Wants Women Enlist In Karate School For Self- Defence

Imo State Ex – Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere has called on parents to enroll their children into Karate classes, particularly women for self defense.

The former Deputy Governor made the call recently at the stadium shortly after a meeting Imo State Karate Association.

Prince Madumere who is the Chairman of the State Karate Association while promising to work with Governor Hope Uzodimma led government to bring a respite to the sports, also promised to leverage on his goodwill to help the sports grow and develop to the appreciation of all.

Speaking about “Catch-them-Young” programme, he encourage parents to expose the girl child to martial arts, stating how importance it is in the raging fight against sexual harassment and incidents of rapes.

“I commend the Acting Director of Sports, Emmanuel Metu for his exploit in the sports where he made name for himself both as an instructor, athlete and administrator of the Karate-do.

“I will explore other means with our Governor to see how we can do more for the sports and also bring it back to winning ways.

“I commend the Senseis for the spirit with which you are pursuing the Catch-them-Young” programme. I have seen prospective champions amid these kids.

“Karate is a world recognised sports. You can make a career in it, use for self defense and most importantly and contrary to the perception out there, Karate practitioners are highly disciplined.

“Parents must be encouraged to enroll the girl child to give her the needed confidence against some irresponsible persons. It will check sexual harassment and rapes.

“Above all, all sporting activities are for good health and total well being of individuals.”
