He decries the high level of blood shed in the polity, allaying the fears of throwing the state into unimaginable economic stress and loss of professionals.

He reminded all and sundry that the consequences of creating atmosphere of crises will hurt all as nobody will be safe, including those waging a destructive war against the state with a view to making political proceeds from it

The statement reading in parts:

“The former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has expressed shock at the gruesome killing of an Anglican Priest, Rev. Emeka Merenu and within the same day, a young lawyer was also murdered in such a crude way.

“It is worrisome that people can inflict so much pain against one another. It is also frightening with the continual rising incidents of killings in the state.

“These killings, believably, has nothing to do with agitation but pure cases of assassinations.

” Imo is losing her stars and future leaders because those being killed, including those mistakenly killed are most young people.

“Those behind these cruelty I believe may not understand the potential retrogressive consequences of their acts economically and otherwise.

“I urge for investigation into these deaths and others that had taken place before now before the state loses its statehood.

“We must all join hands to change the tide. The Governor must not be left alone to manage the situation, as the state keeps sliding to the state of anomie.

“Social reorientation is very necessary and every man of goodwill and positive influence must not stand by the roadside and expect miracle to happen.

“Imo is our state and we must not lose our statehood.”
