EFCC Arrests 21 Suspected Internet Scammers In Abia, Seizes SUVs, Phones, Sims

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) early Thursday in a sting operations in some parts of Umuahia, the capital city of Abia State, which resulted in apprehending some internet fraud suspects.

Their effort reportedly yielded result as 21 suspects and a variety of cars, phones, laptops, watches, and subscriber identity module (SIM) cards, among other items reckoned to be properties acquired with proceeds of internet fraud.

The EFCC personnel came from the Port Harcourt zonal command, The Nation gathered.

They were arrested without any incident, based on diligent surveillance and verified intelligence on their suspicious internet-related criminal activities, the Commission said.

Items recovered from them were one Lexus RS 350 Sports Utility Vehicle; three Lexus ES 300 cars; one Toyota Camry;  50 phones of different brands; eight HP laptops; one Dell laptop; 15 Airtel SIM cards; one international passport; one Ford car key; one Samsung wristwatch, one headphone and one printer.
