Nigeria @ 61: Owerri Witness Panic Buying Over IPOB’s Sit-At-Home Order

Yesterday, while the State of Nigeria was preparing for the celebration of Nigeria’s 61st Indepence Anniversary, the residents of Owerri were embroiled in panic buying.

The Indigenous People of Biafra had issued Sit-At-Home Order and hoisting down of Nigerian flags in the South East.

In deference to IPOB’S order, most families were involved in panic buying, causing traffic gridlock on the streets of Owerri.

NewsTrack Nigeria visited some of the shopping malls in Owerri where overwhelmed crowd was witnessed.

A visit to Everyday Supermarket, Ikenegbu, the marts witnessed so much crowd that it ran short of groceries to customers.

For instance there was short of loaves of bread in all the grocery stores. Our reporters visited Market Square, Leedel Supermarket, Priceless, Pay Less and few others.

It is fast becoming a norm that at every Sit-At-Home order of the Separatist, there is always overwhelming demands for food items from families.
