How Ace Nollywood Actor, Chiwetalu Agu Was Rough Handled, Arrested By Soldiers
Nigerian Soldiers have allegedly battered and arrested ace Nollywood Actor, Chinwetalu Agu at Upper Iweka area of Onitsha, Anambra state for putting wearing designed with colours of the Biafran Flag.
According reports, Thursday afternoon, Agu’s vehicle was stopped by soldiers who wasted no time to bring him out of his bus and after one of the soldiers made a call, he was dragged, manhandled and arrested
According to video footage obtained by Newstrack Nigeria, as crowd started building up, the fiercely looking soldiers released warning shots even as people scampered for safety.
Agu has been spotted in the same regalia, which went viral on social media with many Nigerians stating on social media that ‘nothing must happen’ to the popular thespian.
The Biafran flag had existed before the current group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) adopted same as official emblem.
While engagement has been hinged on marginalisation, the current agenda borders on self determination, which has been described as unattainable by the present Muhammadu Buhari led government.
The leader of the group, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is, at present, in the custodial of the State Security Service (SSS) where court action has been instituted against him.
The self style leader of IPOB was allegedly captured and repatriated to Nigeria under a mysterious circumstance, which is being challenged in various courts.
Recently, there have been gruesom killings in most parts of South East, which IPOB with its touted armed unit, Eastern Security Network (ESN) have been variously accused as the chief mastermind.
Recently, husband of late Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Dora Akunyili was mindlessly killed by some assailants.
While IPOB has distanced itself from the violence and other criminal activities, Nigerian state has maintained its stance against the proscribed group.
For Chiwetalu Agu, could have worn the flowing gown adorned in Biafrans flag as a member of the said group or in protest against the Nigerian state for reasons not yet known?
