IPOB Sit-At-Home-Order: Owerri Most Ghostly

Again, there is total compliance to the rescinded Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) sit-at-home order within Owerri, the capital city of Imo State looking most ghostly.

Last Monday as reported by Newstrack (newstrack.com.ng), Owerri and entire state witnessed a disquiet experience with report of gunshots followed by military deployment with other security agencies.

Today, Monday, October 11, 2021, ninety-five percent of business layouts were shut against the general public and the residents, in compliance, kept away from public places.

When NewsTrack toured the major roads of Owerri, they were literarily ghostly with major roads desperately lacking vehicles to ply on them.

Wetheral Road is so empty that one could see the end of the road if not for the curves on the road. Douglas is the same story while Ikenegbu area witnessed all the business outfits and offices shut.

Dan Anyiam Stadium also experienced the emptiness except members of the Staff of State Sports Commission all hanging around. When our reporter inquired to know, one of the Coaches who spoke on the condition of anonymity said they groaned to come to avoid sanction from the government.

“We trekked long distances and where we found vehicles they charged very high. To come to stadium from Orji to Stadium cost me N350 because we couldn’t find any straight bust to the stadium,” he said.

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has said that the South East Governors are helpless over IPOB sit-at-home order.

In September 27, 2021 as reported, Governor Hope Uzodimma had said he would no longer tolerate IPOB sit-at-home order or any order at all coming from the proscribed group.

With the development, it seems as though the South East Governors are truly helpless as confessed by Governor Ikpeazu.
