Just In: Panic In Imo As Unknown Gunmen Storm Local Govt Council, Open Fire At Traditional Rulers, Kill 2, As Others Fight For Life

No fewer than two traditional rulers have been reportedly shot to death by unidentified gunmen, Tuesday, in Nenasa, Njaba local government area of Imo State.

When NewsTrack Nigeria ( contacted the Police Public Relations Officer of Imo State Police Command, Mike Abattam, he confirmed the unfortunate incident. He however said that only two traditional rulers have been confirmed dead.

He said that the Command is yet to find out about the identity of the victims and their autonomous communities.

According to sources, the traditional rulers drawn from autonomous communities numbering about 20 in Njaba local government area of Imo State were in a meeting at the Local government council headquarters when the gunmen reportedly stormed the venue of the meeting.

The gunmen on arrival, began shooting sporadically, went straight to the venue of the meeting and opened fire on the traditional rulers as people scampered for safety as people sustained various degrees of injuries and others with bullet wounds.

Our sources revealed that apart from the traditional rulers who have been confirmed dead, others are fighting for their life as they have been taken to nearby hospital.

The carnage going on in Imo State seems to be far from over with reports of killings and wanton destruction of properties.
