Imo Former Governor, Ikedi Ohakim Mourns Former Aide, Zeek Martins, Says It’s A Personal Loss

The former cerebral Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim is in mourning over the painful passing of his former aide, High Chief Zeek Martins Nnadozie.

The former Governor’s pain was expressed in a statement he personally signed dated October 20, 2021, describing Nnadozie’s transition as a personal loss.

In his tribute, he said that Nnadozie was a competent aide who managed security in the state and also accomplished an important task of coordinating the exercise that enabled his administration to clear several months of arrears of salaries and other entitlements owed local government councilors by the administration before his.

He said that Nnadozie was reliable and shared the same vision he has for their immediate constituency and Imo State at large.

His statement:

“I am still lacking in words to describe my feelings since the news of the untimely death of my dear brother and friend, High Chief Zeek Martins Nnadozie, came to me.

“Zeek Martin’s death is a personal loss to me not only because he was a brother but also because we had a shared vision which needed him to be very much around for us to actualize: Vision about the social, political and economic uplifting of our people; the Mbano clan, the good people of Imo state and, indeed, Nigerians as a whole.

“Zeek Martins served under my administration as my special adviser on security and performed extremely well in that capacity.

“One single role he played and which cannot be forgotten is in coordinating the rigorous exercise that enabled us clear several months of arrears of salaries and other entitlements owed local government councilors by the administration before ours.

“He will be missed for his courage and steadfast pursuit of the truth no matter whose ox is gored.  Our dear state, Imo, has lost one of its most reliable and trust worthy politicians who acted as a bridge between the young and old; a generous man who went about his politics without bitterness.

“I am, however, consoled by the fact that he lived an exemplary life and I am further encouraged to accept this unfortunate development by the words of the late sage, Obafemi Awolowo, who said, “it is not life that matters but the courage you bring to it””.
