Obiano Explains Why He Signed Bill Anti-Open Grazing Bill Into Law

Anambra Governor Willie Obiano said he signed the anti-open grazing bill into law to enthrone peace

The bill was passed to the Governor by the House of Assembly penultimate week.

The bill was to prohibit and abolish open and nomadic cattle and other livestock grazing and rearing in Anambra State, establish cattle and other livestock ranches in the state, and provide for related matters.

The signing ceremony was performed at the weekend in the Governor’s lodge in Awka.

Obiano, who appreciated the House of Assembly for expeditious passage, said that the establishment of the law would hopefully enable the entrenchment of peace

Though, according to him, they had been managing crises for a very long time which were only short-term measures.

He stressed that the law enforcement agents had been directed to implement the law in Anambra State.

The signing of the bill into law was witnessed by the traditional ruler of Onitsha and Chairman, Anambra traditional rulers Council, Alfred Achebe, Commissioner of Police, Echeng Eworo among others.
