BREAKING: 21-storey Building Collapses In Lagos, Scores Trapped In Rubbles

Scores of people have been reportedly trapped under the rubble as a 21-storey building collapsed in Lagos on Monday.

The building, under construction, is located on Gerard Road in upscale Ikoyi on Lagos Island.

According reports, Ibrahim Farinloye, the acting coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed the development.

Mr Farinloye said emergency responders are heading to the scene – Premium Times.

The Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, also said the agency has activated its emergency response plan.

It is unclear the number of casualties from the building collapse or how many people are trapped.

Meanwhile the rubbles have destroyed yet to be confirmed number of cars and other mobile assets, as help is on the way to rescue those trapped in the rubbles.
