Imo House Of Commotion: Speaker Impeached 5 Days After Overseeing His Deputy’s Removal By 6 Lawmakers (PHOTOS)

Five days after the newly impeached Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Paul Emeziem, superintended the removal of his Deputy, Amarachi Chyna Iwuanyanwu, the same person he impeached gathered six members of the House and impeached him.
The latest 6 man parliamentary coup produced Hon. Kennedy Ibe as the Speaker while formally ousted Deputy Speaker, Amarachi Iwuanyanwu retained his seat though other sources claim that 19 actually removed him.
In the coup that ensued, the former Speaker, Hon. Emziem was reportedly beaten blue and black by thugs and official security personnel sent to protect and mid-wifed Amarachi led group impeachment process against Emeziem.
An eyewitness pointed a finger to the government, alleging that some of the security personnel seen around the complex of Imo State House of Assembly were drawn from Government House.
According to sources in the government house, Governor Uzodimma was embarrassed by the impeachment of the former Deputy Speaker, Amarachi Iwuanyanwu, as he was not in the know.
Meanwhile, Iwuanyanwu is seen as the de facto Speaker following his position and closeness to the Governor. He calls the shot.
While the speculation may not be far from the facts, what is not clear yet is the position of Governor Hope Uzodimma in the ongoing parliamentary rowdiness. His interest in the whole brouhaha is what is yet to be revealed.
It is rather ‘historic’ that Imo has produced three Speakers in two years.
