Shehu, Omokri Trade Tackles Over Buhari’s National Security Achievements

The Federal Government’s claim that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has substantially resolved the frequent farmers/herders clashes has sparked an inter-administration feud.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, on Friday, repeated the claim at the 10th year anniversary of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) in Katsina State.

But a former Special Assistant on New Media to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Reno Omokri, challenged Shehu to go out unescorted.

Delivering a paper, titled: Fake News: Challenges of Information Management at FUDMA, Shehu said: “It is a fact that the Buhari administration is the only government of Nigeria that has put forward a workable solution to the herder-farmer challenge in all the years since Independence.

“The threat to civilians and peaceful co-existence between different ethnic and religious groups from farmers-herders clashes, banditry and land disputes are of serious concern to the Buhari government.

“It is incorrect, however, to assert that the government has or is doing nothing to address the threats…”

But Omokri disagreed with Shehu’s claims on the current operations of terrorists. The former media aide challenged Buhari’s aide to visit Bama, unescorted by security operatives, and stay a weekend in the town.

Omokri, whose comment was relayed through his verified Twitter handle, @renoomkri, said:

“Yesterday, Garba Shehu renewed his claim that ‘Buhari deserves credit for tackling insecurity’. I renew my challenge to Garba. Spend a weekend alone, without security, in Bama. I will pay him $50.000,” he said.
