Ngige, Uba Locked In A battle Over APC Leadership In Anambra

The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State has taken a new dimension with the party scheduling separate caucus meetings for Friday in Abuja.

It is about who takes over the leadership of the party in the state between the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige and the governorship candidate of the party in the November 6 election, Senator Andy Uba.

While the faction led by the state secretary, Chukwuma Agufugo, had scheduled a meeting at Ngige’s Abuja residence to adopt him, Uba’s group, led by the state chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, will meet in Maitama, Abuja.

A former member of the House of Representatives, Victor Afam-Ogene, described it as the battle of the bigwigs.

He told The Nation: “The stage appears set for the determination of who truly is the leader of the APC in Anambra…
“The number of state caucus members who attend any of the two meetings would go a long way in determining where the leadership balance will tilt,” he said.
