N250 Million Donation To Orphanages: Verification Ongoing – Davido

Music Star, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has given an update on the proposed disbursement of the N250 million donation to orphanages.

On November 17, a few days to his 29th birthday, the singer started a donation exercise that was meant to be a joke with his friends.

His fans also jumped on the occasion to express their love for him by sending in their donations.

The DMW boss asked friends to donate the sum of N1million naira each to a Wema Bank account.

He raked N200million in 48 hours of activating the fundraising.

On the eve of his birthday, November 20, Davido decided to donate all the money plus an extra N50million as a birthday gift to orphanages across Nigeria.

He went on to set up a five-man committee to oversee the proper disbursement of the funds.

On November 22, Davido vowed to ensure the proper disbursement of the N250million donation after a social media user shared her mom’s concern over his gesture.

The fan noted the mom had insinuated the money will not get to the real beneficiaries as a result of corrupt practices among welfare officials.

On November 29, the “Jowo” singer via his social media accounts said only government-accredited orphanages will benefit from the N250m largesse.

In a more detailed post, he noted registration for possible beneficiaries had begun on Monday, November 29 and would close on December 2, 2021.

In a new development, Davido has given an update on the donation via his Instagram story.
“Verification is ongoing and a report will be out by 15th December. Selection and disbursement 18th/19th and the press release should be by 20th December.

“1234 responded. 852 without orphanage names. 382 with orphanage names.

“The National Association of Orphanages in Nigeria sent the list of Orphanage homes within their coverage, which to some extent is helping us with the verification process. God bless.

“We rise by lifting others,” he wrote, accompanied with a love emoji.
