Police Rescue Kidnapped Imo Traditional Ruler
Imo State Police Command on Saturday said they have rescued the traditional ruler of the Mbutu Ancient Kingdom in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, Eze Damian Nwaigwe unhurt.
The Monarch was reportedly abducted from his palace at about 2:30 am on Thursday.
A source said the gunmen, numbering about 10, shot into the air before whisking the monarch away.
The command’s spokesman, Michael Abattam, a Chief Superintendent of Police, confirmed the development.
He said the monarch has been reunited with his family.
However, the Imo state Police Command didn’t give details as to how the monarch was rescued and where he was rescued. Also, no information was given as to whether ransom was paid.
According to source, the police said they are putting up their reports together and will furnish the public the details of the success story in due course.
