BREAKING: Magodo Residents Stranded As Landowners Recover Properties

Landlords and residents of Magodo area of Lagos are reportedly currently stranded as policemen have taken over the estate to execute a Supreme Court judgment on behalf of the landowners.

According to the Nation, at about 4am on Wednesday, the gate of Shangisha Estate, off CMD Road, was locked.

Residents were barred from entry and no one could also be allowed to leave. Commercial activities were also reportedly paralysed.

When our reporter visited the estate at about 11:30 am, the main entrance leading into it and other small gates were under lock and key, which forced many to stay outside.

A security officer told a resident who demanded entry: “Nobody can go in or out for now, that’s the order”.

Some of the occupiers of properties, residents and business owners who spoke with The Nation, lamented the hardship faced in the early hours of Wednesday.

They pleaded with the state government to intervene.
