*Topic: choose wisely*

“ _So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company” (Genesis 13:11 NIV)_

Freedom of choice is one of the greatest gifts God gave to man which had been greatly abused to the detriment of humanity.

One thing that is worthy of note is that God respects human choices haven given them the positive and negative sides of either of the choices. Abram was a peace maker who avoided family conflicts by allowing his nephew (Lot) to choose first before him.

Lot in his choice revealed his true character. He was greedy, wanting the best for himself, without thinking about his uncle Abram. He chose the whole plain of the Jordan, near Sodom a notorious city.
The area Lot chose had good pasture and available water; it seemed to be a wise choice to Lot. But he failed to recognize that Sodom could provide temptations strong enough to destroy his family.

Life presents a series of choices. You too can choose the best ignoring the needs and feelings of others. This kind of choice, as Lot’s life shows, leads to problems. When you stop making choices in God’s direction, your only option is to make choices in the wrong direction.

Have you chosen to live or work in a Sodom? Even though you may be strong enough to resist the temptations, other members of your family may not be. While God commands us to reach people in the “Sodom” near us, we must be careful not to become like the very people we are trying to reach.

Song
I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold,
I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
I’d rather have Jesus that houses or lands,
I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand

*Refrain*
Than to be the king of a vast domain
Or be held in sin’s dread sway;
I’d rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.

*Prayer* : father Lord; please help me in my daily choices that I may choose wisely according to your will in Jesus name
