*Topic: There shall be room enough!*
“ _He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth, saying, “Now the LORD has given us room and we will flourish in the land” (Genesis 26:22 NIV)_
Challenges, hatred and quarrels have become part of human life since the entrance of sin. It is more pronounced when someone seems to be doing well in life. Isaac lived in Gerar the land of the Philistines during a period of famine which made him to contemplate to go over to Egypt. But God instructed him not to go to Egypt but to remain in land because He purposed to bless him there.
Isaac obeyed God and stayed in the land. As he planted crops in the land that very year, God blessed him that he became rich and wealthy which attracted the people’s envy. Finally, Isaac was asked to leave the land because he became too powerful for the people.
Isaac left, moved from there and settled at the valley of Gerar. There his servants dug a well and out of jealousy, the herders of Gerar quarreled with Isaac’s servants claiming the well to be theirs. They left that one and dug another well and the people also quarreled over it. They moved on and dug another well and no one quarreled over it and Isaac named it “Rehoboth” meaning “Room enough”
For three times, Isaac and his men dug new wells, when the first two disputes arose, Isaac moved on. Finally room was available for everyone. Rather than fighting with people, you have to move on for the sake of peace. Isaac did not fight for the wells he dug for the sake of peace and God gave him room enough.
Would you be willing to forsake important items, properties or other valuable possessions to keep peace? Ask God for the wisdom to know when to withdraw and when to stand and fight. As you forsake your valuables for the sake of peace, may God grant you room enough and cause all your life’s challenges to become a stepping stone to your success.
*Song*
My heart can sing when I pause to remember
A heartache here is but a stepping stone
Along a trail that’s winding always upward,
This troubled world is not my final home
Refrain:
But until then my heart will go on singing
Until then with joy I’ll carry on
Until that day my eyes behold the city
Until the day God calls me home.
*Prayer*
Father Lord in heaven, I thank you for your blessings in my life. Grant me the courage to contend with the issues of this life and to move on with you. Help that quarrels and dragging of properties would not cause me the room you have prepared for me in heaven I ask in Jesus name, Amen.
