South East APC Youth Leaders Meet, Vote For National Unity
Newly elected South East All Progressives Congress(APC) Youth leaders have called for defence of the unity of Nigeria.
The youth leaders also called on the youths to drop all momentary gains and come out to vie for elective positions.
Arising from one day retreat held in Owerri, Imo State on Wednesday, they said that the country particularly the zone needs transformational youth leaders that could stand and defend democracy and the unity of Nigeria at all times.
“Today we have gathered in Imo State to discuss the youth issue. At a time we need transformational youth leaders that can stand and defend democracy, youths that will stand in defence of the unity of Nigeria, we are here today to awaken the giants within each and every one of us that will help us position as critical stakeholders in building the Nigeria of our dreams,” they said.
They also commended Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma for been in the fore front of harnessing the potentials of the youths of South East, adding that no nation can grow effectively without harnessing the potentials of its youths.
Also, they commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment in developing South East and affirm that the youths of the region support and believe in him.
Earlier, the South East APC Zonal Youth Leader, Odu Olisaemeka Onyeka, noted that one step towards achieving potentials as young people was for the youth to believe in themselves to unearth hidden talents.
“At this time in our nation’s economy, we need to look deeper and discover who we are from within. We need to learn skills and turn from job seekers to employers of labour.
One of our party’s fundamental policies is youth capacity development and this we can achieve through an inward understanding of our potentials so we can create opportunities that will help build our nation.
He noted that as youth leaders “we are obliged to mobilised membership for our party across ward, local government and state levels and humbly await the directions of our party hierarchy in the region towards enduring that our region benefits immensely in the next political dispensation.”
