Imo Govt Moves To Partner Driving School Owners On Issuance Of Learner’s Permit



…Warns Against Fake Permits In Circulation

Imo State Government has disclosed plans to issue driving ‘Learner’s Permit’ through recognized and accredited Drivers School by the Ministry of Transport.

This is as the Shared Prosperity Government of Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma through the Ministry of Transport has issued a strong warning to rackeeters who fake the ‘Permit’ and sell same to unsuspecting members of the public.

The Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Rex Anunobi, who disclosed this when the Nigeria Driving School Proprietor’s Association (NDSPA) led by Mazi (Dr) Chukwuemeka Elias and Driving School Association of Nigeria (DSAN) led by Dikeocha Ifeanyi paid him separate courtesy visits in his office on Monday, said the Minstry of Transport under his watch are putting in place critical measures towards achieving a sustainable and effective service delivery to the public as well as record optimal revenue for the Government.

Barr. Anunobi who reiterated the determination of Senator hope Uzodimma to sanitize and reposition the transportation sector through the ongoing Performance Audit as approved by the Governor towards restoring sanity and discipline on the roads, explained that the Ministry of Transport will collaborate with other MDAs as well as partner effectively with the stakeholders in the transportation sector in driving the overall agenda of the present administration as encapsulated in the 3-R Agenda of the Shared Prosperity Government.

While commending the Associations for the proposal of partnership with the Shared Prosperity Government in training some youths of Imo State as professional drivers and the Associations sustained support to Senator Hope Uzodimma 3-R Government, Barr. Anunobi directed for immediate harmonisation of the two Driving School Associations as he sets up a technical committee headed the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Bimbola Ogunsanya, to among other gains ensure sustained relationship and colloboration between the Associations and Government going forward.

In their respective votes of thanks, Mazi Chukwuemeka Elias Dikeocha Ifeanyi commended Gov. Hope Uzodimma for bequeathing a friendly business environment to Driving School operators through quality roads being constructed across the State.

They also applauded the initiatives of the Commissioner for Transport and his determination to ensure that the transportation sector is revolutionized for the good of the people.
