Governor Uzodimma Restores Sanity, Effective Administration In ISOPADEC To Meet Set Goals

Prior to the assumption of duty of Governor Hope Uzodimma, the Imo State Oil Producing Area Development Commision ISOPADEC was a conduit for all manner of corrupt practices ranging from outlandish, bogus and arbitrary salary structure that never represented reality.

In comparison with sister organizations in Nigeria, Irregular and illegal appointments of staff, ambiguous contract inflation, uncompleted projects became a new normal, thereby dislocating the statutory goals of the Commission.

The previous administration set up a fact finding commitee to look into the issue of illegal appointments of staff by the Rochas Okorocha’s administration and other sundry administrative issues bordering on salary structure.

Senator Hope Uzodimma who is an apostle of the maxim *”Government is a Continuum”* on assumption of duty retained the commitee and allowed them to finish their work uninterrupted.

Chief Charles Orie, when appointed as the MD of ISOPADEC received on behalf of the Government of Imo State the report of the commitee which recommended the sack of over 100 illegally employed staff and the need to restructure the salary package of the Commision to reflect modern realities and what is obtainable in sister organizations.

Hence, Chief Charles Orie, MD ISOPADEC simply implemented the commitee’s report.

In his word when members of Hope Networking paid him a working visit he said *”We did not sack anybody we only implemented the recommendation of the committee set up by the previous government.”*

It is worthy to note that the salary structure of sister organizations such as DESOPADEC has entry level grade 8 staff receiving a total take home of 75,000 to 85,000 naira monthly, whereas that of ISOPADEC were receiving 150,000 to 200,000 as total take home. Moreover there were no clear cut administrative guidelines on salary structuring.

This ambiguous, and outlandish salary allocation affected the ability of the Commision to deliver on her primary responsibility of providing basic infrastructural development for the oil bearing communities.

However since Senator Hope Uzodimma took the bull by its horn to cleanup the administrative rot in ISOPADEC thereby restoring sanity and probity in her operations, the commision has in two years undertaken over 50 projects with most of them completed. An unprecedented achievement in the history of ISOPADEC!

Now the entry level salary of an ISOPADEC staff ranges from 75,000 to 85,000 as seen in other sister organizations, and the issue of ghostworkers is now a thing of the past.
