Lagos State Council Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (Mc Oluomo) has demanded N1 billion from Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria (TOOAN) Zone ‘C’ Chairman Alhaji Azeez Abiola (aka Istijabah) over alleged libel.
In a letter written to Abiola by Akinsanya’s lawyer, Adejare Kembi, Abiola was alleged to have made a broadcast where he alleged that Akinsanya killed one Hamburger, Baba Esi, Ade Lawyer and a host of others.
The lawyer said the broadcast disparaged Akinsanya, presenting him “as a murderer, liar, forger, a person of no reputation and a habitual briber of the police.
understatement as the publication was published on your (Facebook) page with over 17,000 followers, and you hit instant success with over 38,000 views, and 5,000 shares immediately, each share having multiplier effect within the social media platform.”
The lawyer said Abiola should, within 48 hours, retract the offending publication and make a public apology, which should be published in The Nation newspaper and several others.
Abiola, while speaking with The Nation, challenged Akinsanya to go to court.
“We have our evidence; we’ll meet in court with family members of the people he killed. I’m the number one evidence; he wanted to kill me. He wrote me a letter to come for a meeting only for him to set a trap for me to be killed. I will certainly meet him in court,” Abiola said.
