*Topic: BE NOT LIKE THE WORLD*

_When you come into a land the lord your God gave you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations” Deuteronomy 18:9:_

God chose Israel out of all the nations to be a peculiar people who were to behave differently from Gentile nations. They were to obey HIS perfect law and followed HIS righteous ways. Israel’s way of life and standard of conduct was to become a light to lighten the Gentiles, and they were to bring others into fellowship with the God of Israel.
We should not disregard the serious nature of the abhorrent practices described in Deuteronomy, simply because these were carried out in ancient times. There are many equally detestable customs and abominable exploits that take place in our modern culture which God hates. News around the world today reveals all manner of evil practices, murders, suicides, ritual killings, armed robbery etc. No day passes without a form of abomination heard on the news.
Many people involve themselves in evil practices by associating with people around them, all in the name of riches, and influence in the world. Where ever you find yourself, the word of God is telling you, do not follow the abominable practices of the world we live in.
Abominable practices or sin is contagious; through close contact, one can be infested. 2 Corinthians says ‘be ye not unequally together with un believers; for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what concord had Christ with the devil? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? Or what agreement hath the temple of god with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them and walk in them, I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Having been saved by grace through faith, we are no longer enslaved by Satan’s power but have been redeemed from the penalty of sin and set free from its power over our lives. May we renounce all evil practices and the enticements and snares of the world and the devil, learn the way of God and not the abominable things of the world and live lives that are holy to the Lord by being lights in this sin sick world… so that others may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven.

*SONG* :
I will live for Jesus Day after Day
I will live for Jesus,Let come what may
Thy holy spirit I will obey
I will live for Jesus Day after day

*PRAYER*
Heavenly Father, keep me aware of the various ways I can be pulled back into worldly customs and attitudes, and may I be quick to renounce all that is evil and any activity that would cause me to drift into ungodly things. May I flee from that which is evil and cleave to that which is good, for Your greater praise and glory. I ask in Jesus’ name, AMEN.
