FRSC Marshals Pay Solidarity Visit To Mines, Solid Minerals Commissioner

Special Marshals of Federal Road Safety Corps, RS 9.4, Imo State Sector Command Owerri have paid a courtesy visit to one of their own, Dr Elias Martins Emedom, Hon. Commissioner for Mines and Solid Minerals Imo State in his office recently.

Speaking during the visit, the State Coordinator Special Marshals Federal Road Safety Corps Sector Command, RS 9.4, Owerri, Dr. Mrs. Happiness Ikechukwu Osuigwe said they deliver a solidarity message from the FRSC Imo State and to felicitate with the Honourable Commissioner Dr. Elias Martins Emedom who is also a Special Marshal on his appointment.

She added that they were encouraged to visit him as a mark of appreciation and recognition for his services to the FRSC and Nigeria while he served in different capacities as a Special Marshal of FRSC.

She went further to explain that the Special Marshals group of FRSC were a volunteer arm of the FRSC, men of proven integrity with visible means of livelihood who served their fatherland, Nigeria without payment. She pointed out they serve to compliment the efforts of the Regular Marshals who are the regular arm, who are on the paid employment of the FRSC.

Osuigwe, assured the Honourable Commissioner of the support of officers and men of the FRSC, Imo State Sector Command in whatever way capacity to assist him succeed in his duty as a Commissioner in Imo State Executive Council.

She recalled, the good and outstanding services of the Honourable Commissioner while serving in various capacities as a Special Marshal in the Sector and Zonal Commands, therefore encouraged him to bring the good work to bear in his current position as a Commissioner for Mines And Solid Minerals, even as she commended the Sector Commander who facilitated their visit as the father of the Command.

In his response, the Honourable Commissioner for Mines And Solid Minerals Imo State, Dr. Elias Martins Emedom thanked the delegation for the visit and went further to highlight the functions of the Ministry, and solicited the support of the officers and men of the FRSC as they are members of Imo State communities who are severally on the roads for patrol, traffic control and surveillance.

He specifically requested them to be watchful and vigilant in their environment, on the activities of formal and informal dredgers whose activities could be hazardous to the environment and could cause problems of erosion control and possibly land slides.

Emedom, urged them to support his Ministry by bringing to the knowledge of the Ministry such environmental degradation activities, reminded the delegation that as members of Imo State community they were in good position to identify areas of location of solid minerals in the state which are yet to be identified and explored.

He described the synergy between them as necessary, adding that it will benefit the State in increasing IGR also create job opportunity for Imo youths urged the delegation to continue to be good ambassadors of the FRSC and continue in the good work for which they have been know for..
