Security Operatives Take Over Eagle Square Ahead APC National Convention
In preparation for the the national convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and to forestall any security breaches, security operatives have taken over the Eagle Square venue of Saturday’s national convention.
New national chairman and members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) will emerge at the convention.
Our correspondent observed that Police patrol vans, manned by armed policemen, were stationed at strategic locations around the Eagles Square while stop and search had commenced for those who attempted to pass through the road that linked the venue.
Vehicular movements were restricted and several vehicles were also turned back by security operatives.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adeh who issued a statement on the restriction of vehicle movement around Eagle Square did not disclose the number of police officers deployed to take charge of security before, during and after the convention when asked by The Nation.
