Davido Features On FiFA World Cup Theme Song

Singer Davido has become the first Afrobeats artistes to ever feature on FIFA World Cup theme song.

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 official soundtrack kicks off Friday with the release of the single Hayya Hayya (Better Together) ahead of final draw for the tournament.

Hayya Hayya (Better Together) is produced by RedOne and features vocal performances from Trinidad Cardona, Davido, and Aisha.

The combination of US star Trinidad Cardona, Afrobeats icon Davido and Qatari sensation Aisha captures the spirit of the FIFA World Cup and the FIFA Sound strategy by bringing together inspiration from across the globe with the aim to connect with audiences worldwide through the shared passions of football and music.

“By bringing together voices from the Americas, Africa and the Middle East, this song symbolises how music and football can unite the world,” said FIFA Chief Commercial Officer Kay Madati.

“As part of FIFA’s revamped music strategy, the multi-song soundtrack will bring passionate fans closer to the spirit of the FIFA World Cup like never before.”

The track’s debut public performance will take place tonight in front of a worldwide audience of football fans, who will tune in from around the globe to follow the highly anticipated draw starting at 19:00 local time.

For Davido, this is a massive achievement as it announces him as the first African musical act to achieve such a feat.

The “Champion Sound” singer took to his Instagram page to share a snippet from the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 official soundtrack video, noting he was delighted to have been given such an opportunity.

The 29-year-old music star captioned the video: “Pleased to have featured and worked on the official @fifaworldcup Qatar 2022 song with @redone @trinidad @aishaofcl! Naija no make am but… NAIJA STILL MAKE AM! #fifaworldcupqatar2022.”
