Abia 2023: The Questions Ikpeazu Must Answer Before We Crucify Evulogu Ibeku

Ebere Uzoukwa

I have taken time to watch and the libation video wherein Chief Charles Ogbonna popularly known as Evulogu Ibeku derided the Ngwa nation and evoked his ‘gods’ to stop an Ngwa man from becoming Governor of Abia State again.

Again, I also watched the second video wherein the man of the moment in Abia politics and strongman of Ibeku and Umuahia made clarifications to strenghten his message his for proper understanding within the context the diabolic message was conceived and delivered.

From my own understanding, Evulogu Ibeku was categorical and specific with his message. The point i think he wanted those who are concerned or dazed by his outburst which no doubt was triggered in anger to decipher was that Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the Obingwa/Abia South born outgoing Governor of Abia State had a ‘sacred understanding’ with the Ibeku political warlords including Ochendo and his family before he was annointed and foisted on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as its Abia gubernatorial candidate in 2015.

The implication of Evulogu’s anger is that Dr. Ikpeazu may have upon taking over power from the ‘Ibeku power sharers’ complied with other terms as contained in the ‘sealed political agreement’ till this critical moment when it appears that the Umuobiakwa born outgoing Governor seems to be dangerously thwarting the very section that involves transition of power in 2023 against their haboured interest.

Suffice it to say that this same Evulogu and his Ibeku ‘political mafians’ have never raised their voices against Dr. Ikpeazu’s poor and embarrassing performance. The mismanagement and the scandalous looting of our common patrimony at the detriment of our commonly desired development by Dr. Ikpeazu and his overnight billionaire aides do not, and had not in any manner disturbed Evulogu and his Ibeku brothers. After all, Dr. Ikpeazu has gentlemanly fulfilled the ‘alert’ segment of whatever agreement he entered with them.

However, I am, though to an extend, standing on the side of Evulogu. It is undeniable that Evulogu played a very critical and political roles towards ensuring the Dr. Ikpeazu, my elder brother from Agalaba and Obingwa was annointed by those he revealed in his second video that made him Governor of Abia State and not Abians.

Of a truth, Evulogu Ibeku was among the Ibeku ‘political musketeers’ Dr. Ikpeazu worshipped day and night before his annointment and the controversial 2015 Abia Gubernatorial election that catapulted him to Umuahia Government House. I was privy to scary situations where Dr. Ikpeazu would be recalled from campaigns just to answer queries and make certain clarifications at Government House or anywhere at Ibeku. He appeared on several occasions before Hon. Chinedum Orji, the incumbent Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly and the son of the immediate past Governor and presently the Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, and sometimes before Evulogu and other Ibeku/Umuahia political warlords. As a matter of fact, it was the Late Chijioke Nwakodo that intervened and pleaded on his behalf in most cases when the Ibekus threatened to off-load him midway.

Given the present situation, it is reasonable and fair too, to know from Dr. Ikpeazu the terms of whatever agreement he entered with the Ochendos, the Ibekus and the Umuahias with regards to the rotation of Abia Governorship seat in 2023. If truly the exiting Governor wants Ndi Abia to come to his rescue, he must answer the following underlisted questions and correctly too.

1. What are the other terms of the said agreement you entered with Evulogu and his Ibeku and Umuahia brothers?

2. How much of Abia money have you given to Evulogu and other ‘Ibeku/Umuahia power sharers’ before the eruption of the brouhaha over zoning of the Governorship seat ahead of 2023?

3. Why did you choose to keep your Ngwa people in the dark since 2015 knowing too well that a day like this must surely come?

4. Were you not the person that rebuked our Ngwa illustrious traditional rulers and Elder statesmen with a threat to chase them away after telling them to their faces at Aba Lodge that every agreement entered with the Ochendos, the Ibekus, the Umuahias must be fulfilled without any exemption?

5. Were you not the person that also told same Ngwa traditional rulers and Elder statesmen that if not the Ochendos, the Ibekus and the Umuahias, that nobody including Ukwa La Ngwa people would have remembered you for the 5015 Governorship project?

6. Did you ever agree with the Ochendos, the Ibekus and the Umuahias that power MUST return to Abia North as one of the conditions of anointing you in 2014/15?

7. Are you aware that you have dangerously divided the Ukwa-Ngwas that once united to fight your political battle even especially in 2014/15 when PDP was almost rejected by the Abia electorate?

8. Do you think sincerely that the people of Ukwa Ngwa are happy with your performance in office as well as the way and manner you are presently conducting your transition program under your party, the PDP?

9. Is it true that you singlehandedly anointed Prof. Uche Ikonne who is about about 75 years old in pursuance of your Umunneato agenda?

10. Is it true that the man you allegedly annointed as a successor, Prof. Ikonne, wrecked Abia State Polytechnic and Abia State University to your knowledge as alleged by Evulogu Ibeku?

Let me stop here for now sir. But also note that I still have other critical questions that will be posed to you in my subsequent publication.

Please endeavour to answer them and correctly too, as i stated earlier before we pick our stones against Evulogu Ibeku.

I remain your brother,

Ochiagha Ebere Uzoukwa
