*Topic:: Redeemed*

” _Then the women said to Naomi, “Blessed be the Lord, who has not left you this day without (a redeemer, and may his name be renowned in Israel! He shall be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age, for your daughter-in-law who loves you, who is more to you than seven sons, has given birth to him. Ruth 4:14-15._

Naomi has lost her husband and two sons in a foreign land where she went during the famine in Israel, Naomi is returning to her home empty but Ruth her daughter in-law decided to go with her, accepting Naomi, her people and her God
Naomi is home in Bethlehem, with no son to continue the linage of her husband (Elimelech). There is need to get a”guardian-redeemer”(one who is related to Elimelech) to marry Ruth in other to bear children for Naomi that will continue Elimelech’s linage. The closest relative of the family refused to take up the role, but “Boaz” a noble man, who is also a relative accepted to buy Naomi’s land and marry Ruth the daughter – in_law of Naomi to continue the linage of Elimelech.
Boaz married Ruth and God blessed them with a son (Obed), Naomi now has a son to continue the linage of her husband, she has been redeemed from childlessness and there is a child to continue her husband’s linage.
The son (Obed) is the father of Jesse the father of David.(Ruth 4:22). Jesus our redeemer came from the linage of David. Ruth’s decision to follow Naomi her mother in-law gave her the rare privilege to be the great great grand mother of Jesus Christ the redeemer of the world .
In our world today, there are times when we might loose everything, fail exams, lose love ones, loose money, loose jobs etc. Let us at those times remember that we have a God above , who redeems us from those losses . Let us cling to him and he will surely redeem us.

His child, and forever, I am.
