Ex – Deputy Gov Calls For Investigation Into Abaezi Calamity



Imo former Deputy Governor and a founder member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Prince Eze Madumere, has called for investigation into the remote cause of the fire incident at the illegal refinery in Abaezi, Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.

Prince Madumere made the call, Tuesday, while fielding questions from newsmen over his thought on the incident

The country had been awash with the reports of the incident of raging inferno at an illegal refinery Abaezi, Ohaji-Egbema local government area of the state where over 100 people were burnt beyond recognition.

Prince Madumere while condoling the families and the people of the Ohaji-Egbema over the unfortunate incident, he said it should have been avoided.

As most people had described the activities of the victims as economic sabotage, the former Deputy Governor stressed the need to inveigh into the cause so as to avoid future occurrences.

His words: “I feel for the families of the victims. I have gone through gory motion pictures and the multiple deaths. This incident should have been avoided.

“I don’t believe in burying a hat het after we must have run a prognosis over the root cause of action and it’s consequences.

“People are talking about sabotage but these are also supposed productive resource we have lost so painfully.

“Yes, what programme and what strategies can we come up with to dissuade our people from such dangerous and illicit vocations not minding the consequences.
