IPOB Gives Reason Of Banning APC, PDP, Others Rallies In S/East

The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has forbade the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and other political parties in Nigeria, from holding rallies in the southeast region.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that IPOB in a recent statement by its spokesperson who deploys the pseudonym, Emma Powerful, criticised southeast politicians, saying “they only care about 2023”, and not about how peaceful the southeast region is.

“We won’t allow APC and other political parties to continue to hold their rallies in our land while Fulani bandits operative with impunity kidnapping and raping our people, yet the politicians do nothing about it. All they care about is 2023. Enough is enough!” IPOB’s statement reads in part.

The directives by IPOB are expected to affect the turnout of voters during next year’s general election in Nigeria.

In a piece of related news, some police officers have attacked a BBC journalist who was covering the suspended sit-at-home order at Cemetery Market, Aba, Abia State.

The incident happened on Wednesday.

The journalist, who could not be identified, was giving a live update during the BBC Igbo Facebook broadcast, when the police operatives who were on routine patrol charged at him. The officers told the reporter that he could be a spy of IPOB pretending to be a journalist. After the argument, he was freed.
