Saraki Identifies Cause Of Insecurity In Nigeria

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Thursday said bad leadership is the cause of the persistent insecurity in Nigeria.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Saraki, a top member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and presidential aspirant in the 2023 election, was speaking in Jalingo, Taraba State, when he met with delegates of his party to solicit their support ahead of the primary election.

“We can not have the same type of leaders tomorrow as we have today. 2023 is about the future of this country and our children,” Saraki said.

“This country has been so divided and we can’t afford to use sentiments to vote

“We must do it right for the sake of those who died for no fault of theirs.

“We have been through so much in this country and we must for competence to rescue Nigeria.”

Since late last year, over 200 people have been killed by non-state across Nigeria.

A security expert, Timothy Avele, while reacting to the rise in casualties said that as long as there is no change in strategy by those in authority, insecurity across the country will persist.

“There must be a change in strategy (especially from reactive methods to Intelligence-based proactive measures) in combating these spiraling killings otherwise everything been done now is just window dressing.

“The killings won’t stop and if they continue to adopt these reactive methods, then we should be prepared for more killings; so sad,” he said.
