BREAKING News : Sen Abaribe Ditches PDP, Resigns As Senate Minority Leader

The Breaking News at the moment is that Senator Abaribe has dumped PDP and resigned as Senate Minority Leader.

Newstrack Nigeria had reports that Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has abandoned the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP)

Abaribe also resigned as the Minority Leader in the National Assembly’s upper chamber.

On Tuesday, Abaribe, an Abia governorship candidate, withdrew from the PDP governorship primary.

In a letter to the PDP ward chairman in the Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State and Ahmed Lawan, the President of the Senate in the National Assembly, he acknowledged his defection.

Abaribe cited ‘illegality, impunity, and decision-making hesitancy’ as reasons for abandoning the PDP.

“This development is the result of the party’s terrible display of illegality, impunity, and undemocratic decision, as well as due consultations with my constituents,” he continued.

His letter to Senator Lawan Ahmed, read in part, “This is to notify you and my dear colleagues in the Senate that I have formally resigned my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party through my ward. This also means my resignation as (the) Minority Leader of the Senate.

“I wish to thank you and my dear colleagues in the leadership of the Senate for the warm camaraderie we enjoyed while I was Minority Leader.”
