It’s Time For Revenge, Tinubu Tells Buhari, Okorocha, Umahi Are Heroes – Says Ohanaeze

The presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress Bola Tinubu has said he kept President Muhammadu Buhari waiting before his acceptance speech because he had suffered similar delays from the Nigerian leader.

“Mr President, sorry to keep you waiting for long, but it’s time to take a revenge; you too take too long sometimes, ” Mr Tinubu said.

Mr Tinubu said it was First Lady Aisha Buhari who usually came to him to pacify him whenever he was being kept waiting by the president.

Mr Tinubu, 70, bagged the APC ticket on Wednesday, scoring 1, 271 votes to defeat Rotimi Amaechi and Yemi Osinbajo, who bagged 316 and 235 votes, respectively.

Senate President Ahmad Lawan came fourth with 152 votes at the convention that concluded on June 8 in Abuja.

Okorocha, Umahi Are Heroes- Ohanaeze

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has applauded the All Progressive Party (APC), southeast presidential , for standing up for justice and in defence of Igbo in the just concluded party presidential primary.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro shortly after the declaration of Ahmed Bola Tinubu as the winner of the exercise.

The statement maintained, ” it was a heroic outing for southeast presidential aspirants like Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, Senator Ken Nnamani, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Governor Dave Umahi and the boycott of Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, whose absence was heroic.”

Denial Of Igbo Presidency Will Come With Consequences – Ohanaeze

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has reacted to the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Tinubu was declared winner of the APC presidential primary after he polled 1271 votes to beat his closest rival, Rotimi Amaechi and Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, who polled 316 and 235, respectively.

In a statement by Ohanaeze Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, he said the refusal of the leading political parties to give presidential ticket to the South-East would come with consequences.

LAUTECH Has Benefited from ASUU Struggle, We Will Not Suspend Strike – Lecturers To Makinde

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) has disclosed that all public tertiary educational institutions are beneficiaries of the ASUU struggle.

The union also pledged that it will not suspend the ongoing strike until the demands of the union are met.

The union made these announcements on Wednesday while reacting to a statement credited to the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde.

Makinde had a few days ago said he deliberately withheld the subvention of the institutions due to the ongoing strike embarked upon by the union.

Makinde while speaking said that LAUTECH lecturers have no business with the ASUU strike.

Our correspondent reports that LAUTECH is one of the tertiary institutions owned by the Oyo state government.

The union has, however, disclosed that it will not pull out of the ongoing strike because all public tertiary educational institutions are beneficiaries of the ASUU struggle.

It said any branch that breaks the strike will lose out on the benefits of the struggle including infrastructure development.

ASUU in a statement signed by its Chairman and Secretary Professors Biodun Olaniran and Toyin Abegunrin said their members have resolved to forge ahead with the strike.
