ACCORD Party Chieftain, Engr. Okere Salutes Nigerians On Democracy Day, Hails Youths New Consciousness
The leader of Imo ACCORD Party, Engr. Okere Augustine has congratulated the good people of Imo State and Nigerians as they observe Democracy Day today.
Engr. Okere who expressed his goodwill message in a statement he personally signed describes democracy as the best form of government, saying that the day is for the commemoration of the heroes of democracy and the near freedom Nigerians enjoy at present.
He extolled the good people of his State for their patience despite the shenanigans going on in the state in the name of governance.
His words in parts:
“The consolation you all have is that there is periodic election in democracy where the sovereign, which is the electorate exercise their power by voting out bad leaders.
“I am happy with the wind of change among the youths who have to the realisation of their powers to decide what happens in the polity.
“We are tired of vocational politicians who have nothing to offer other than promise of roads and infrastructures that never ever last. We must talk about those with capacity to change the narrative.
“We must say no to money politics because it is causing so much devastation to the national development. Money that will be used for Development are used for vote buying”
He further called on the judiciary to remain resolute and brave to stand for justice because democracy without Rule of Law is like a dead wood.
