Ex – Imo Deputy Governor Salutes Nigerians on Democracy Day, Hails New Consciousness in Nigerian Youths



Former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has joined other democrats to salute Nigerians as the observe Democracy celebration.

The former Deputy Governor extended his felicitations to the good people of Imo State and Nigerians in a press statement issued by his Adviser, Media and Publicity, Uche Onwuchekwa.

Prince Madumere noted that it is a day to commemorate the heroes of democracy who had to pay the ultimate sacrifice for Nigerians to enjoy the freedom to vote, be voted for and periodic elections.

While observing that there are still much more work to be done in the area of money politics, which has remained a hampering factor to the election of capable hands and full dividends of democracy, he called on Nigerians to vote people with required leadership credentials to lead them.

He also decried the ethnocentrism that still beclouds the Nigeria’s journey to nationhood. He however maintained that worst democratic rule is still better than praetorian rule.

He further expressed excitement over the revolution and the new consciousness in the political space. He praised the movement, saying that the future belongs to the youths, fearing that their if they remained in the state of slumber, it can only create fear for Nigeria’s tomorrow.

He called on the leaders of the country to address the widening divide in the polity by making sacrifices to reassure other regions of the country.

Madumere further touched on issue of Rule of Law and the lawlessness of some political executives who would rather benefit from it and damn every consequences when it does not favour them, describing it as a dangerous trend that is anti-democratic ideals.
