May Day: Ex – Imo Hails Workers’s Patriotism, Commitment, Urges For Caution In Oil Subsidy Removal

Former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has hailed Imo workers and Nigerians at large for their patriotism and commitment to national development.

In a statement he signed himself, the former Deputy Governor said the Nigerian workers remain the most patriotic and understanding among their contemporaries around the globe. 

He said in other climes, what Nigerian workers go through and still committed to their set goals is unequal. 

“The standard of leaving is such that is excruciating and still with their meagre resources, they keep working. 

At no time have the Nigerian workers put the country to shame as they have always given room for negotiation with perseverance.

At occasions of economic downturn, they have always shown understanding and have worked with successive governments to stabilise the system. 

I was happy the issue of total removal of subsidy was shifted till June according to the new acts. 

It is my hope that the next government must sit with workers to work out issue of oil subsidy so as to still preserve workers. 

It will catastrophic if such is done with their present earnings. I know that people is the South East are the worst hit because of the disparity in the pump prise of petroleum products as there seems to be dearth of price regulation by relevant agencies.

While, we have bundle of unresolved issues in education, manufacturing and other critical sectors, I heartily celebrate our workers for their courage, patriotism and productivity.
