BREAKING: Ex-Abia Governor TA Orji’s Son Removed As Abia Speaker
Abia State House of Assembly has removed Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, the son of the former Governor of the State, Senator Theodore Orji as the Speaker.
RT Chinedum was impeached on Tuesday at about 9am.
According to sources, NewsTrack Nigeria (newstrack com.ng) garnered that About 18 members of the Assembly signed for the impeachment with the exception of two persons.
Hon Solomon Akpulonu had moved the motion for the impeachment and was seconded by Hon. Chijioke Chukwu (Bende LGA).
According to sources from Government House, Umuahia, Chinedum’s impeachment may not be unconnected with his alleged unwillingness to commence impeachment proceedings against the state governor, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.
Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Ifeanyi Uchendu representing Ohafia South confirmed the impeachment to Journalists in Umuahia, the state capital on Tuesday but did not disclose other information.
Rt. Hon. Orji, son of the former Governor Theodore A. Orji had lost his bid to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency in the House of representatives in the just concluded general elections.
