Great Disappointment: Tinubu Ditches South-East As APC NWC Adopts His Template For Nat. Assembly Leadership

– Settles For Akpabio/Barau, Abbas/Kalu

While the South-East zone of Nigeria has continued to struggle for political balance in the polity, once again, the President-Elect has shown his hatred for the Igbo race.

The polity has been charged with the struggle of the zone to produce the Senate President but that hope has been dashed with Monday adoption of Tinubu’s zoning template, where he favoured the South-South, leaving Orji Kalu and other hopeful from the zone utterly bewildered and disappointed.

The National Working Committee NWC of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC adopted principal officers of the 10th National Assembly.

A document issued after the NWC meeting on Monday in Abuja indicated that the Senate President would come from the South South and specifically, Senator Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom).

Others are “Deputy Senate President – North West-Senator Barau Jubrin (Kano).

“Speaker, House of Representatives North West-Hon. Abass Tajudeen (Kaduna).

“Deputy Speaker South East-Hon. Ben Kalu (Abia)”.

The development has not only confirmed the fact that there was a call for ethnic cleansing against the Igbo race in Lagos by Tinubu’s political thugs who were let lose during the last Presidential election.

Reacting to the development, Senator Ifeanyi Una of YPP condemned the move by the APC, calling on the opposition to come together and field a consensus candidate from the zone to square up against the APC candidate.

While Kalu had insisted on continuing with his ambition, promising to bring his experience in management of human and material resources to bear, it is rather curious to find out how the battle will end.

The south East zonal leadership of the ruling party unwittingly shot themselves in the foot after suspending some of its leaders, including Orji Kalu on the grounds of unfounded anti party activities.

Hope Uzodimma who began the antagonism by fielding Senator Osita Izunaso may also be nursing his wounds as it is a loss to the entire zone.
