Topic: GOD KNOWS HIS LOVERS

But whoever loves God is known by God. 1 Corinthians 8:3

A friend loves at all time and a brother is born for adversities. As we look into the Scripture we see so many stories of friendship. One that mostly come to mind is the one that existed between David and Jonathan. There are a few others like Jesus and Lazarus. Even as humans we all have friends but the cord that holds this friendship together is LOVE, without it no friendship can stand the test of time.

In John 14:15 the Bible tells us one of the indices of our love for God. “If you love me keep my commandments”. Those who love God keep and obey the commandments or laws of God for no one can claim to love God and disobey His commands. You seek always to please and make happy the one you love.

1 John 2:15 tells us another index of our love for God. “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father(God) is not in them”. Those who love God will not love the world because no one can love God and the world at the same time just as none can serve two masters at the same time. The things in the world includes; lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, Pride and lots more and God hates all these things.

Those who love God will also have passion and love for the work of God and they take it as the most important work in their life. God is not a man and cannot be tricked or deceived. He is all knowing and can differentiate those who truly love Him from the pretenders. That is the exact thing that Jesus will come to do on earth at His second coming, to differentiate between true lovers of God and pretenders.

Thought for Reflection
Have you ever considered that those who love God supremely are being mocked or segregated by people? Do you often see yourself in similar situation ?. Be not afraid or sad, for God is in control.

Prayer
Father increase our faith that our love for you may overwhelm our love for the world and strengthen us in difficult times in Jesus name, amen
