Uzodimma, A Leader To Reckon With – Imo Sports And Youths Commissioner

The Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Imo State, Hon. Emeka Okoronkwo, has described Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State as a patriotic leader with listening ear.

Mr. Okoronkwo made the statement while speaking with select newsmen on youths development in the state in Owerri, Imo State.

Mr. Okoronkwo said that since the inception of Uzodimma led government, there have been programmes targeted at equipping Imo youths with contemporary skills to make them useful to themselves, productive to the state and Nigeria at large.

Speaking further, he expressed happiness that the Governor is also gender friendly, having also taken interest to fund female football development in the state.

“These efforts in upskills and sports development among the youths and in a bid to make Imo more Conducive to attract investments and other developments, the Governor has done well in the area of road construction and rehabilitation, Mr. Okoronkwo said.

He also commended the Federal Government for recognising Uzodimma for his efforts, especially in the area of national unity.

“I am not surprised to learn of the National Honour Award of the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) conferred on our Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma,” he said.

He called on Imo youths to eschew crime and get skills as government is ready to guide them and invest in them.

He said: “Those who have talents to take sports as a career are welcomed on board. Others who are interested in ICT and other skills are also advised to reach out. Today, we have Social Welfare Scheme in the state established by Gov. Uzodimma to help the youth and women. It is only a visionary leader who can envision all these, he concluded.
