Sit-at-Home Order: Imo Capital City Deserted: Businesses, Banks, Schools Shut Down (PHOTOS)

A tour round the city of Owerri, Imo State, revealed that there was a total compliance to the order of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB).

For the past two months, normalcy returned to the Capital Territory of the State with businesses, banks, schools and markets opening for business on Mondays.

Just as Governor Hope Uzodimma led government had claimed that Imo State was free from any form of insecurity, accusing opposition elements of selling lies to Nigerians but that didn’t seem to be right with the level of compliance by Owerri residents.

Fidelity Bank also didn’t open for business…

According one of the residents, Ihuoma Anaya, ” Since last week, we have had reports of shootings across the state, Owerri, inclusive.

“We heard reports of shootings around Akwakuma in Owerri where a Keke rider met his untimely death. The same reports were heard about Orogwe/Irete area on Sunday.

Ikenegbu business buildings under lock and key

“Another area we heard shootings was around Okwu-Uratta. The area has more students residents who are studying in the Imo State University.

” There is no way any right thinking person will go to work at the expense of his life. My children stayed at home today. Whether we have to eat or not, we must bear it to be alive.”

FCMB Office building also closed

Most of the area the reported visited are Ikenegbu Road, Wetheral Road and Orlu Road. There only few vehicles plying the roads. They are presumably those resident around.

FCMB, First, Fidelity, Zenith and most Banks visited were shit down.

Again, businesses, especially Phone shops, eateries, Major Supermarkets, including Everyday, Destiny and Maris did not open for business.

Civil Servants in Imo, too, complied with the Monday Sit-at-Home Order.
