Topic: Living as Children of Light
” And to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”Ephesians,4:24
Do you love superheroes? Have you ever imagined having superpowers like them, being able to fly through the sky or having incredible strength? Well, guess what? As children of God, we have a superpower even better than any superhero – the power to be children of light!
What does it mean to be children of light? It means living in a way that reflects God’s righteousness and holiness. Just as light chases away darkness, we have the great opportunity to bring God’s light to the world around us.
When we accept Jesus into our hearts, He gives us a brand-new self. It’s like putting on a new suit or costume, one that shows others whose team we’re on – Team Jesus! This new self is created in the likeness of God, which means our actions, thoughts, and words should resemble God’s character.
So, how can we live as children of light? Let me share three simple ways with you:
- Obey God’s Word: Just like superheroes follow their code of conduct, we should follow God’s Word – the Bible. It tells us how to live in a way that honors Him and brings light to others. When we obey God’s commands, we show the world that we belong to Him.
- Show Kindness and Love: Superheroes often save people in trouble and help those in need. As children of light, we can do the same. We can be kind to others, share our toys, and lend a helping hand to those who are hurting. When we show love, we shine God’s light into their lives.
- Speak Encouragement and Truth: Superheroes often inspire others with their words of wisdom. As children of light, we can do the same. Let’s use our words to build others up, speak kind and encouraging words, and share God’s truth with those around us. When we share God’s truth, we bring light to a world that often confuses right from wrong.
Remember, being a child of light is not about us showing off or being better than others. It’s about pointing others to Jesus and showing them His love through our words and actions.
So, let’s put on our spiritual costumes, showing the world that we are children of light. Let’s follow God’s path and bring His light to others through obedience, kindness, and uplifting words. With God’s superpower within us, we can make a difference and impact the lives of those around us.
Thought for Reflection
As children of light, we have been to live in a way that reflects God’s righteousness and holiness. It’s not always easy to shine God’s light in a world filled with darkness, but we can find strength and guidance in His Word. Let us reflect upon how we can daily put on our spiritual costumes, showing others the love and grace of our heavenly Father.

Dear God, thank You for making us Your children of light. Help us to remember that we have the power to bring Your light to others by obeying Your Word, showing kindness, and speaking encouragement. May everything we do glorify You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
