Topic: A Message to the Children.

Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Col. 3:20.

Jesus is our very best example here. In Luke 2:51 NIV, the bible made us understand that Jesus was very obedient to His parents. He never insulted, neither did He exchanged words with them. His earthly father Joseph was a carpenter; Jesus always accompanied him in carpentry work and was submissive.

Jesus who was God, never exalted Himself, He was obedient to His heavenly Father; the fact of His obedience was proven in the river after His baptism, the Holy Spirit came down to His shoulder in form of a dove and God spoke from heaven saying “This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased”.
As children/youth, if you have ever desired to live long and fulfill your years with good health, wisdom and knowledge in academic pursuit or whatever; to be prosperous in life, changing the situation of your household, then you have to obey your parents. What I meant by parents is both your father and mother including your elderly ones: you have to obey them.
The Lord is not pleased when He sees a child disobey the parents not considering what they’ve gone through to bring/raised him/her. Just as your parents are not happy, God Himself isn’t happy either and God does not bless whom He isn’t pleased with. One thing is sure, an obedient child will receive double blessings: blessings from the parents and abundant blessings from God.
Do not provoke your parents to lay curse on you, it’s often said that “prevention is better than cure;” it’s better not to be cursed than be cursed and looking for a way to lift the curse. Whenever you wrong your parents, always ask for forgiveness, don’t have a heart of stone by asking what will your parents do. God does not and will not bless such a child. Ephesians 6:1-3 concludes it, for it says:

  1. Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
  2. Honor thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
  3. That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
This is the promise of God to you as a child, abide by these rules and God will bless you. Thought for reflection
Think about how wonderful it would be when God blesses and prolonged your years here on Earth as a result of you obeying your parents. Song :l
When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
    He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey. CHORUS
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. Prayer
Father, we come to you as little children, may of us have not been Obedient to our parents and elderly ones, forgive us oh Lord, give us the spirit of obedience so that all your promises will be fulfilled in our lives, we ask in Christ name, Amen.
