Topic: Prayer

Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving”. Col. 4:2.

When I was in primary school, my C.R.K teacher taught me that prayer is the key that opens all doors, prayer unites us with God and it helps us to make our request known to God. When I thought of it, I discovered that my teacher was correct. It is very true that God sees right inside our hearts, but the ability to pray it out to Him is the evidence of faith, trust and belief that we have. Prayer does not bring God down to us, but bring us up to Him.

When Jesus was upon the earth, He taught His disciples how to pray. He directed them to present their daily needs before God, and to cast all their care upon Him. And the assurance He gave them that their petitions should be heard, is assurance also to us. Steps to Christ. P. 64.

Jesus Himself, before He was tempted, fasted and prayed in order to be empowered for what He was about to face.
This teaches us that, even as children, we need to always pray, because when we pray we receive fresh strength, empowerment and our future is assured. Paul and Silas in prison, prayed and God set them free. The disciples prayed and many were healed.
The God that answered them is still the same God today, He will answer your prayers, for the Bible says “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you (Jer. 29:11-13).
God is our heavenly Father, if we don’t make our needs known to Him, then who else are we going to tell it to?
God is ever ready and His ears are wide open to hear our petitions. Cast your burdens upon Him, for He cares about you.

Thoughts for reflection.
I think we should be longing to talk with God all the time, if yes, then how should your manner of prayer be? Answer individually.

Song :
Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief,
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

Prayer
Lord Jesus, our approach to prayer is not exemplary, please help us to always be in communication with you. Like the disciples of old, teach us how to pray. We pray through Christ our Lord, Amen.
