Imo APC Converts Palliative To Political Tool To Woo Voters
The ruling All Progressives Congress in Imo State has converted the the state’s share of the federal government Palliatives to political tool to lure voters to vote for her gubernatorial candidate, Governor Hope Uzodimma, for November 11 election.
The NewsTrack Nigeria (newstrack.com.ng) had reported the sharing formula of the Palliative rice where civil servants are getting less than two paints as their share of the ₦5 billion Palliative. Our reporter who investigated the development said the APC on the directive of Governor Hope Uzodimma will share 10 bags to every polling unit.
According to our impeccable source closed to the APC leadership, the 10 bags are to be shared to only those who have voters’ cards.
When asked if the approach is not contrary to the goal of reaching out to the poorest of the poor, he said that everybody needs the rice at this perilous time of economic downturn.
From our calculation, average number of registered voters in every booth is about 800. Having 10 bags of rice, which is 2,100 cups. When divided among 800 voters, each electorate will receive about two and half cups.
One of the APC members who spoke angrily described the sharing formula as inhuman, describing the palliative a s a failed effort. ” We as party members have been advised not to bother about the rice since our own largesse is on the way”, she said
Meanwhile, the yardstick with which this Palliative was arranged as a succour to Nigerians following the pump price hike, which is digging so much hole in the purses of families.
