Imo PDP Campaign Council Lauds LGA Staff For Protesting Against Alleged Diversion Of N104 Billion LGA Monthly Allocation

The Peoples Democratic Party Campaign Council in Imo state has lauded the staff of the 27 local government areas in the state over their protest against alleged Uzodinma’s diversion of over N104 billion belonging to the LGAs in the last three and half years.

The PDP’s commendation was communicated in a press release signed by Dr. Ikenna ONUOHA, Director, Media and Publicity, Imo Peoples Democratic Party Gubernatorial Campaign Council.

According to the release, “a letter that leaked few days ago from the Ministry of Local Government in the state showed that Uzodinma deducts over N2.4 billion monthly from LGA account. The staff expressed their displeasure in a protest at the state Secretariat yesterday.

“The Council further thanks the aggrieved staff for rejecting all entreaties by Uzodinma and his government to discontinue with the protest against the diversion and non payment of their 10 months salary.

“It is ridiculous that while hunger and starvation are on the increase in the state occasioned by the petroleum subsidy removal, Uzodinma and his government have flagrantly refused to pay LGA Staff more than 10 months salary due to the huge money diverted. A situation where Uzodinma and members of his family live in affluence and allow the local government staff to rot is most unwholesome and wicked.

“The council therefore calls on Imo people to join the campaign against Uzodinma and his inhuman administration from inflicting the state and its citizens with poverty.

“Our council further regrets that while other states in the country have designed suitable and sustainable blue prints to ensure that local governments in their areas are viable and formidable to carry out rural projects, Uzodinma and his vicious government are busy diverting the state’s funds while leaving the citizens to beg for food.

“It is unheard of, uncalled for and condemnable that upon all the resources available to Uzodinma and his administration in the last three years including intervention funds from the federal government and other foreign agencies, our state LGA Staff are still wallowing in abject poverty simply because the Government does not have any regard for them, nor appreciate their contributions to the growth of the state.

“This singular act of negligence and sheer wickedness to the people of the state led to the emergence of our Governorship candidate, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu to correct the ills and as well, make Imo Safe Again.

“Our campaign council therefore calls on the protesting LGA Staff to remain calm, steadfast, committed, focused and law abiding, as efforts are on top gear for the incoming PDP government to reward their devotion and dedication to duties.
