Title: God’s Gift of Courage

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.” – 2 Timothy 1:7

In 2 Timothy 1:7, we learn that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and self-discipline. This verse reminds us that we have God’s Spirit living in us, empowering us to be courageous.
Once upon a time, there was a young boy named David. Though he was small and young, he loved God with all his heart. One day, David’s people faced a giant named Goliath. Everyone was afraid and hesitant to fight Goliath, but David knew that with God’s power, he could overcome any obstacle.
David boldly volunteered to face the giant, and armed with only a slingshot and five smooth stones, he went before Goliath. While everyone else doubted him, David had faith in God’s strength. With that faith, he aimed his slingshot and struck Goliath right on the forehead. Goliath fell to the ground, defeated by God’s power working through David.
In this inspiring story, we see David’s unwavering courage to face his fears and trust in God’s strength. He teaches us that no matter how young or small we may feel, with God’s Spirit within us, we can be bold and courageous. You can apply David ‘s example of boldness. It might be standing up against bullying, sharing your faith with a friend, or making a difficult decision that aligns with God’s values. God is with you always, providing the strength and courage you need to overcome any obstacle.
Remember, God’s Spirit lives within you, giving you the power to be brave and courageous. Trust in His strength, step out in faith, and know that you can overcome any obstacle. With God, you are never alone. He will always be your strength and guide in every situation.

Thought for Reflection
Just like David, God wants us to be courageous and unafraid. He has given us His Holy Spirit to live inside us, empowering us to overcome our fears and face challenges with confidence. We may not face physical giants like David did, but we encounter different obstacles, such as standing up for what is right, fighting against the temptation to do wrong, or speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Take a moment to think about a situation where you need to be courageous. How can you rely on God’s Spirit to help you face that challenge with boldness? Remember that God is always with you, giving you the power, love, and self-discipline to overcome any fear.

Song
Standing by a purpose true
Heeding God’s command
Honor them, the faithful few
All hail to Daniel’s band

Refrain
Dare to be a Daniel
Dare to stand alone
Dare to have a purpose firm
Dare to make it known

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the story of David and Goliath that teaches us the importance of courage and faith in you. We praise you for the gift of courage that you have given us. Help us to remember that you are always with us, and your Spirit gives us the power to be brave and bold. We pray that you fill our hearts with your Spirit, so we can face our fears and challenges with confidence. Help us to trust in your strength, just as David did, knowing that you are always with us. Give us the courage to stand up for what is right, the courage to be kind, to stand up for others, and to be a light in this world. Guide us as we face difficult situations, knowing that you are by our side. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
