Title: Becoming More Like Jesus

It is God’s will that you should be sanctified. (1 Thessalonians 4:3)

Have you ever wished that life came with instructions? Sometimes we have so many questions about what we should do or how we should act. But the good news is that God has given us His Word, the Bible, to guide us and show us His will.

In 1 Thessalonians 4:1-12, we learn about something called “sanctification.” Now, that might sound like a big and complicated word, but it’s actually quite simple. Sanctification means becoming more like Jesus.

So, how do we become more like Jesus? Well, it starts by reading the Bible. As we spend time getting to know Jesus through His Word, we begin to understand His ways and His love for us. Reading the Bible helps us recognize the things in our lives that keep us from God’s best for us.
When we see these things, known as sins, we want to avoid them because they separate us from God’s goodness. We also become aware of situations that make us weak and vulnerable to sin, and we make changes in our lives to stay away from those situations.

But sanctification isn’t just about avoiding sin. It’s also about loving others. Jesus taught us to love one another just as He has loved us. This means that we start caring more about those around us and less about ourselves. We realize that loving others can be challenging, so we pray and ask God for help.
As we continue to grow in our knowledge of Jesus and love for others, people around us begin to notice a change in us. Our relationships with others are impacted by God’s love coming through us.
Becoming more like Jesus is an ongoing process that affects every area of our lives. It’s not just something we do on sabbath or when people are watching. It’s about living each day in a way that reflects Jesus’ love and character.

Think about one way that God is working in your life to make you more like Jesus. How can you continue to grow in your knowledge and love for Him?

Prayer :
Dear Jesus, Thank you for showing us how to live and love like You. Help us to become more like You each day. Guide us as we read the Bible and open our hearts to the changes You want to make in us. Teach us to love others just as You love us. In your name, we pray. Amen.
